Following the conclusion of the summer season, Sunrun will notify participants when and how the reward is available to redeem, which may be in the form of a monetary gift card or Sunrun bill credit.
Sunrun ConnectedSolutions is limited to customers served by the utility company Rhode Island Energy in Rhode Island. Eligible Sunrun customers are opted-in to participate in the program when they sign up to go solar with battery storage.
The program lasts for five years, but you can opt out at any time by email grid@sunrun.com. Your participation will start once your system is installed, activated, and starts sending energy to your home or to the grid. Rhode Island Energy may choose to extend this program after five years.
Participating systems maintain a minimum 20% backup reserve in case of power outages. Storm Watch will add another layer of protection for critical storms and severe weather.
During a power outage your battery system will not send any power to the grid. Storm Watch (an automatic Sunrun setting for any non-Tesla Powerwall systems or a setting that can be enabled in the Tesla app for Powerwalls) will keep participants' homes prepared for critical storms and severe weather.
Yes, you can opt out of Sunrun ConnectedSolutions at any time by sending an email to grid@sunrun.com. Please note, those that opt out after the program starts, will not be eligible to receive the reward.
Only Sunrun solar & storage customers located in Rhode Island using Rhode Island Energy as their utility provider are eligible. Sunrun customers can only participate in Sunrun Distributed Power Plant programs, dual enrollment is not permitted.
As energy demand continues to increase and outpaces the supply, Sunrun ConnectedSolutions provides a fast and meaningful way to provide large scale capacity of energy to the grid. Sunrun ConnectedSolutions is a network of tens of thousands of Sunrun home battery systems, coordinated to offset grid strain and reduce power outages. When energy demand is high, Sunrun distributes energy back to the grid, bypassing the need for peaker stations. In return, Sunrun passes on rewards to you as a way of sharing benefits across the system.
