What is a Sunrun Flex system?
Sunrun Flex is a new kind of home energy system that intelligently adapts to your life. It is designed to meet your energy needs today, but we install enough panels & batteries to meet your needs tomorrow. You only pay for what you use, as you use it.* When life changes and you need more energy, simply tap into your additional capacity at a low, locked-in rate (subject to an annual escalator). No system upgrades or additional construction needed.
What happens to the additional power my Flex system generates if I don’t use it?
The additional power is yours to use or export. With the Tesla Electric + Sunrun Flex plan, any energy that your system produces that you do not use will simply be exported to the grid and you may be eligible for sellback credits depending on your REP plan.
How does the Sunrun Flex system integrate with Tesla Electric?
The Tesla Electric + Sunrun Flex plan is exclusively offered to customers with the Sunrun Flex system. This partnership allows you to maximize your home's energy production, keep your home powered during an outage, and earn sellback credits for any excess energy sent back to the grid, to offset any energy import charges you may incur. How does billing work with the Tesla Electric + Sunrun Flex plan?
You will receive two separate bills: one from Sunrun for your Flex system, and one from Tesla Electric for your electricity service. Your Sunrun bill is based on your home's solar system. You'll pay a fixed Minimum Monthly Bill based on your Monthly Energy Baseline. Unlike traditional solar subscriptions, Sunrun Flex charges you based on energy consumption. If you use more than the Monthly Baseline, you pay the minimum bill, plus a set rate per kilowatt-hour for the additional energy. How do I know if the Tesla Electric + Sunrun Flex plan is right for me?
It’s pretty simple. For customers who think they’ll increase power (which is typically what happens after going solar) or may change how or when they use power, the Flex plan provides a ton of value. We don't recommend Flex to customers who know their usage will be going down or staying the same - for example, if some family members are moving out, or if you know you're living elsewhere part time.
